Staff Development is the Way Forward to Delivery of Great Products and Services

Here at Southern Cross Assurance Limited (SCAL) we have a vision to be one of the leading insurers in PNG. Personal and professional development of our team members will always be one of our top priorities at SCAL, and

Eddie Aila delivering his presentation on the GROW model framework.

Since January this year, our team members have been participating in weekly training sessions with Mr. Eddie Aila of Eddie Aila Consulting, a local leadership consultant that conducts leadership coaching and business skills training programs for various corporate organisations in PNG. So far, the weekly trainings have covered topics about leadership mindset, time management, effective communication and the GROW model coaching framework. The program is set to continue for the rest of year with numerous other topics to be covered.

SCAL HR Manager, Ms Janina Yaki said “This is the first time SCAL has undertaken a formal staff training program since the company commenced operations in 2012. The purpose of this training program is to help individuals unlock their potential to do their best work and grow with the company. SCAL team members have been approaching the training with open minds and as a result, they are enjoying the sessions and are proactive in applying the learnings from each of the sessions in their respective roles and this has already improved internal communication and productivity noticeably.”

SCAL CEO, Mr Srirangan E. K. said, “SCAL is a home-grown insurance company that has been operating for just over 10 years and one our core values is about developing our people. The SCAL team is made up of individuals from diverse backgrounds and different levels of experience in the insurance industry. I do believe we have a great mix of skilled and talented individuals that are capable of delivering great insurance products and services, that will drive the SCAL brand to stand out as one of the most preferred insurers in PNG and the pacific. We have already noticed a significant improvement in our overall first quarter results for 2024 compared to last year, so I am very pleased with the impact of the training so far.”
